With the summer heat creeping up on us we've managed to stay cool with some warmth in our hearts.

There was plenty to celebrate and smile about this month with William, Weston, and Emily's birthdays as well as the wonderful sacrament of marriage with Tommy & Amanda's wedding. Among these significant milestones, we were also able to catch William's baseball game, Lacey's school play, Rangers vs Angels with Yu Darvish pitching, Whitewood's Crawfish Boil, Madden's Memorial Day BBQ and Pool Party, and even the Byron Nelson! Whew, I'm tired just talking about it ...
Somehow I "squoze" (Yes, you heard me right, I said squoze. I know the past tense of sqeeze is squeezed, just not in my dictionary) in some down time to finish reading "The Three of Us." A book written by Georgette Jones about growing up with Nashville stars Tammy Wynette and George Jones. It was such a fun read and I really enjoyed the stories that went along with the songs they play. It gives the music such great meaning when you know the heart and soul that went into creating it. I very quickly downloaded some of their old country songs and found myself singing along with a renewed sense of what music is really all about. Definite read for music lovers out there. I also began a new book titled "Style, Sex, and Substance." It is a wonderfully written book (so far) by 10 Catholic Women who bring refreshingly open and humorous perspectives on facing the perils and pitfalls of modern society while continuing to grow in their faith
and improve their relationship with Christ. Its a very inspiring book. Might I also add, not only do they offer extreme grace and vulnerability, they are halarious!

You are so sweet. Thank you for the kind review of "Style, Sex, and Substance"!
ReplyDeleteAlso? I am totally stealing "squoze" from you. ;)
Thanks Hallie! I'm really enjoying the read. Y'all are an inspiring group of Catholic women. I am a cradle Catholic and find myself each day striving to deepen my faith and get a better understanding of our roots rather than just going through the motions, so thank you for the challenges and solutions you offer in this book.
