If you're looking for an inspirational read, "Love & War" by John & Stasi Eldredge, should top your list. Below are a couple of quotes I extracted and paraphrased that I feel compelled to share as they have brought such strength and peace in my marriage!
- Our hearts are created for heroic love, and you will never feel more alive than when you are loving heroically ... therefor we must fight in this spiritual war through daily prayer. Maintain a united front and stand together in prayer.
- Adventures help us become more of who we long to be and when shared together, help build companionship in a marriage.
- The richest part of marriage, the daily goodness, is companionship.
- The human heart has an infinite capacity for happiness and an unending need for love, because it is created for an infinite God who is unending love.
- People get married because we need a witness to our lives ... there's a billion people on the planet, so it's hard to know what any one life really means ... but in marriage, you're promising to care about everything. The good things. The bad things. The terrible things. The mundane things. All of it. All the time. Everyday. You're saying "Your life will not go unnoticed because I will notice it. Your life won't go unwitnessed because I will be your witness."
