In Loving Memory of

Entered Into Eternal Life
January 4, 2010
God saw that he was getting tired,
And a cure was not to be,
So He put his arms around him
And whispered, "Come With Me."
With tearful eyes we watched
him suffer and saw him fade away,
Although we couldn't bear to lose him,
We could not bid his stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard-working hands were laid to rest;
God broke our hearts to prove to us-
He only takes the best.
David Rolling, 62, died at his home in Dallas on January 4, 2010 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Littleton, Colorado on July 3, 1947. David was the oldest of nine children. He served in the Navy with a tour in Vietnam. In 1972, while stationed in New Orleans, he married Denise Lovelace. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science from The University of Tulane. Among his many passions, David enjoyed being out in the field as a geologist, working most recently at Nexen Petroleum. He was a kind and gentle man and a great role model. He was never discouraged when things were bad, and he always prevailed. He gave everyone he came in contact with a very special gift, the gift of himself. He was a friend, a husband, a father, a hero, and we are comforted that he has gone home. David is survived by his wife, Denise, his children, Michelle, Kristina, Timothy, and Colette and eight grandchildren (9th on the way). In addition to his father and parent's-in-law, he was preceded in death by his daughter Nicole.
Donations are to be sent to The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
Thank you everyone for your kind words, friendship, and love. We appreciate the continued prayers and support.

A Few More Memories
Dad's priorities were his faith and his family. He loved to travel and enjoyed the outdoors, especially making sure our garden was producing good vegetables! He was very proud of all of his kids and joined in every event of our lives as well as the grandkids. He taught me how to take the good from the bad and serve others in a Christ like way.
What he was like
One word "patient," it was amazing to watch him be calm in the midst of a storm, never thinking negatively, he just knew that it would all work out as God planned and even though at the time it might not seem best, the ultimate outcome would be positive ... he would always say "what's right isn't always easy, in fact, more often that not, it'll be the harder thing to do"
I admire about him
His unwavering desire to serve the Lord, always in a humbling way, leading him to take care of the family and others in the most unselfish and giving manner ... he would give anything for his family ... the best example I have of that is him always having the car that "didn't work" just so he knew his kids were safe on the road with the newer of the cars we had
Things I miss about him
His willingness to help with anything if he was able, whether it was lending a tool, cooking a meal, offering to pray with you ... the list goes on forever
His Favorite Movie
Groundhog Day
His Favorite Meal
Mom's Chicken Noodle Soup
His Favorite Song
"Unforgettable" Nat King Cole
He also loved Dave Brubeck
The first thing I think of when he comes to mind
How quiet and contagious his laugh was ... it would build up and up and up til his face turned red then he would let out a little chuckle ... no doubt that what was he was laughing at had to be, down right hilarious

Colette, what a beautiful tribute to your father and to your whole family. I'm looking forward to following you & Chad through your new adventure. Be safe & have fun!
