Vacation & Vocation Bible School, First Communion, Fourth Family Fun, Golf, & Surfside

How is it that summer is already over for our sweet kiddos?!  I always get so sad when my little buddies have to go back to school because they fill my life with so much JOY.  On a positive note, this means we can get back into a good routine with religious education & sports ... on top of going back to the grind at the gym for work and leisure!  It's always a good busy.  Below are some pictures to keep things updated on our blog:

- Vacation Bible School in Carrolton with cousins at St. Catherine of Sienna
- Fourth of July celebration with my siblings at our crib in Katy
- Vocation Bible School at our parish, St Bartholomew
- Bryce's First Holy Communion
- First full round of golf with Wrigley at Cinco Ranch Country Club
- Challenger Soccer Camp for the boys
- Summer session of gymnastics for my girl, Dublyn
- Surfside for World Catholic Day with our favorite community of people (friends we are blessed to call family)

After golf lunch at Layne's namesake (yes, our son is named after Layne's Chicken Fingers ... WHOOP!)

Summertime, summertime, sum, sum, summertime - The Jaimes

Shortly after my last post, thinking we were keeping the jackets out for a while, summer hit head on.  It's the beginning of June and the pool remains at a soothing 90 degrees most days.  As soon as soccer season came to an end, we jumped right into track camp. Along with track camp came daily dips in the pool.  May and June also brought on boating on Lake Ray Roberts, Blueberry picking at Chmielewski's, and a few day trips to the Houston Zoo and Paloma Trails for horseback riding to name a few.  Upcoming is a trip to Dallas for vacation bible school with cousins and then straight into 4th of July where we will be hosting the second annual summer sibling and cousin bash!  Looking forward to posting more soon ....

Slowly swaying into Spring

Punxsutawney Phil was spot on this year.  We have no idea what the weather will bring living in Texas, but one thing is for sure, we are well into Spring and jackets are still out.  Just when you think it's shorts weather ... BAM ... think again!  It looks like we will be heating the pool to swim through April and possibly into May.  Coming off of the holidays, January started off with a few more pounds around the waste 😂.  Now it's April and progress is making way with Lent under foot. It's always a helpful nudge needed to stay on track after the new year and refocus our eyes on the way of the cross.

Our Christmas gift from Grandma, our Aussiedoodle named Nashville, made his way to us at the end of January.  We couldn't be more smitten!  He is adorable, snuggly, full of energy, and has a fun loving spirit.  He has kept us busier than we could've imagined since the day he arrived. He is now 5 months old and weighs 8 pounds.

Dublyn danced ballet from January-March but decided her passion was in gymnastics where she attends class twice a week.

Wrigley took a gander at a Winter Basketball League in February.  He did really well and learned a lot about the game.  I think he would enjoy playing again in the future.

Somewhere in the timeline we muddled through stomach bugs and a nasty fever virus that lasted most of March; but once we made it through, we didn't waste any time and jumped right into Spring soccer.

Now it's the beginning of April and we have added golf into the mix of sports.  Our weekends are busy but we love watching the kids in their elements.  Our children are very gifted athletically for which Chad and I are super grateful.  It is fun to watch them compete and gain new skills.

Other news:  Chad's mom passed away a week shy of her 75th birthday.  It was a long time coming as she spent the last 20+ years in poor health after suffering several debilitating strokes.  While it is always sad when a loved one leaves us, we are at the same time appreciative that her earthly suffering has ended.  May her soul, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

I will post some of 2022 pictures soon as Easter is only a week away!

So that just happened ...

Somehow a whole year went by without a single blog post.  I know you avid readers out there, who follow my blog, have been on the edge of your seats haven't you?!  Well, all apologies.  We have swung through some highs and lows but no news is good news!  Honestly, thank goodness for pictures to remind us of the past because if we relied on my memory (or any memory of the Rolling side of the family) we'd be knee deep hearing the sound of crickets.  In other words, don't ever rely on me to remember something.  I'm the best person in the world to share a secret with, just like Dori in Finding Nemo!!

Alright .... here is 2021 in a nut shell:

January: Boys hunt in Lampasas (Davis shot his first buck)
February: Family ski trip to Angelfire, New Mexico ⛷ (This was a fantastic trip and overall success!  It was fun to watch the kids learn to ski for the first time. On the way home, we dodged the winter storm by staying a few extra days in Dallas)
March: College Station for some Aggie Baseball (this year were joined by the adorable Moseley family)
April: All 3 of the older kiddos played Spring Soccer ⚽
May: Wrigley & Elise's First Holy Communion ♱
June: Watson's visited us in Katy
July: Swim, swim, swim ...
August: 1st Annual Family Summer Bash
September: Wrigley continued his golf with First Tee 🏌, Chad and I celebrated our 10th Anniversary, Visited The Rolling Family in San Antonio (hiking and pickleball with cousins)
